Happenings of the Week

Another week has come and gone. We are officially down to our last 2 weeks in Portugal and as such, we are attempting to cram all that we can in our remaining time. We have been hosting people over for dinner, eating out at people's homes, finishing up some work projects and spending time encouraging and connecting with people. It's been a full, but good week and it will only get more full in the weeks to come.

This past Friday, Donovan, Heidi and I had the opportunity to attend the high school graduation of 2 youth we have connected with really well in the last few months. It was both an honor and privilege to be there. They are both are off to Germany for bible school this fall. Rudy and Liane, we are very proud of you! Thanks for inviting us to share in the celebration with you.

Yesterday the Massama church celebrated its first year as being a formal church. It was a good afternoon of celebration and worship. Due to the short time span between the Massama and Loures services on Sundays, I was unable to stay for much of the celebration after the worship gathering, but regardless, it was a neat time of reflection in seeing how God has been working in the life of the church and seeing where God has taken the church this past year.

Worship Celebration

Leading worship in Loures
In Loures, we recognized those who completed the Alpha course this spring.  There were celebrations all around this week!

After the Loures service yesterday, we headed out to play basketball with the youth. Usually we play basketball with our friend Celso on Friday afternoons after worship practice, but because we went to the graduation instead, we decided to play last night when more of the youth could join us. It was a perfect evening for basketball (and futebol).

While we played basketball, some decided berry picking would be more fun. They actually were able to pick a whole bag  of mulberries.

Celso has mad bball skills!

It's shaping up to be another busy week filled with birthday parties, bowling, dinner parties, beach day with the youth, Portuguese class, Taco Tuesday and much more I am sure. Gotta soak it all up!
