Cookie Escapades

So on Tuesday of this last week, Otto asked us Trekkers to make 600 cookies for some people here. Seeing as I love to bake, I thought this was a fantastic idea.

We figured out how many batches of cookies we needed to make in order to get 600 cookies. We figured we needed to make 12 batches if each batch of cookies got us about 50 cookies. The math made sense to me.
Tuesday and Wednesday were days spent making cookies from morning til evening. By Wednesday, it seemed like the cookie baking was never going to end.

Getting there, but not quite. This is only about 1/2 of the cookies we made.

With a gazillion batches, some were bound to fail. These particular cookies got a little stuck to the pan, so we felt we had no other choice but to eat them.

Friday our task was to ice all of the cookies. Just over half way through icing, we asked Jacob to count the cookies. Our total at that point was 815 cookies. How could we have so many cookies when we still had so many more left to do? Rachael, Aleah and I spent a good 7 hours icing cookies on Friday. When all was said and done, about 1200 cookies were baked, iced and packaged to hand out to the people we baked them for.

Each of these pictures is not of the same cookies. We had to let them dry in different areas of our apartment. Today I realized that I forgot to take pictures of 2 other spots we had cookies drying, so imagine about 400 cookies added to the pictures above.

So, we learned that maybe our math is not the greatest, but at least now we have cookies to bring to functions and neighbours in the next few weeks. Good times.

  1. Wow, what an undertaking! Wish I could have shared my kitchen with you for that task. Wish you could come and visit with the girls on Thursday. Enjoy your tropical Christmas.
